Ashley Benson might score some major hotties on Pretty Little Liars, but in real life, she’s a tad pickier.
The 25-year-old actress opens up to Fashion magazine about her love life and her career and admits that she doesn’t necessarily want to date a fellow celebrity because it might add up to too much spotlight for the young star. She does, however, credit a very A-list couple for managing their relationship and the fame that comes with it.
“I don’t think I would be able to date a high-profile actor the way Angelina Jolie has,” she tells the mag. “Her and Brad [Pitt] have done a good job at keeping private, but I’m sure that takes work. It’s too much attention when two powerful people are together.”
Although Benson wants to take on more “challenging” roles, it seems the Spring Breakers star would prefer to have her career without any of the cameras rolling outside of her career. She confesses to Fashion that her least favorite part of any new project is the inevitable debut.
“I hate the red carpet. It’s nerve-racking,” she says. “People are yelling at you and pictures are being taken at all angles. It is not a comfortable thing for a human to experience!”
But what might not be comfortable for her might be even more uncomfortable for her family! She dishes to the mag that her family was a little awkward about her risqué role in Spring Breakers.
“My family hated the movie, but I told them, ‘There are going to be films that you are not going to want to support, but you don’t have to see those films.’ I wanted that challenge,” she explained.
Challenges and nerve-wracking moments aside, there’s one star she believes has it down to a science: Jennifer Lawrence. “I think she’s the coolest person in the business. She’s breaking the mould of what Hollywood stars are supposed to act like,” Benson says.
“I look up to her so much. Actors should stop acting when the cameras are off.”
