American Idol's Second to Last Winner Ever Is…

American Idol Finalists, Nick Fradiani

American Idol Finalists, Nick FradianiFOX

After 13 weeks and two long hours, season 14 of American Idol finally has a winner…

Congratulations, Nick Fradiani!

We’re gonna be honest here: we really would have liked to be congratulating Jax instead. Did you see her up there with Steven Tyler?! That girl’s a star, winner or not.

Anyway, if we can’t have Jax, we guess we’re pretty happy with Nick, who wasn’t our fave at first but slowly grew on us to the point of making us emotional when he was named the winner over Clark Beckham.

Another thing that made us emotional? The idea that we now only have one more American Idol finale to watch…ever.

Whatever you want to say about the past few seasons, this show has churned out some of the biggest moments in music and pop culture of the last 15 years, and we may or may not have been tearing up a little bit earlier while reminiscing over Adam Lambert singing “Mad World” and Kelly Clarkson rocking “Stuff Like That There.”

Who knows if Nick will go on to occupy such a significant space in music history, but what we do know is that if next year’s final season is anywhere near as epic as that two hour finale was, we’re in for a treat.

Not only did Steven Tyler grace the Idol stage again, but we also got performances from Fall Out Boy, Vance Joy, The Jacksons, Michael McDonald, Janelle Monáe, and New Kids On The Block, mixed in with a few behind-the-scenes vids and montages of all of this season’s contestants.

It was truly a great time, and as weird as it is to say at this stage in the Idol game, we realized we really will miss this crazy show when it’s gone.

So thus begins our mourning process, which we’re kicking off with a long Youtube spiral of our favorite Idol performances.

Guess we’ll start with this one!

How do you feel about the results? Will you miss Idol when it’s gone? Sound off in the comments!
